Mkomazi National Park

northern-tanzania

Mkomazi National Park is one of Tanzania’s most remote and lesser-known safari destinations, recognized for its dry savannah landscapes, black rhino conservation program, and strong wilderness atmosphere. The park offers a quieter and less commercial safari experience compared to the heavily visited northern circuit parks, making it ideal for travelers seeking exclusivity and untouched natural environments.
The ecosystem is characterized by open plains, acacia woodlands, rocky hills, and semi-arid landscapes that stretch toward the Kenyan border. Mkomazi forms part of the larger Tsavo ecosystem, creating an important wildlife corridor between Tanzania and Kenya.
Although wildlife densities are lower than in parks such as Serengeti, Mkomazi provides a more peaceful safari environment with strong conservation significance.
