Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport, you will be welcomed by your professional safari guide and transferred to your lodge in Arusha. The city lies at the base of Mount Meru and serves as the main gateway to northern Tanzania’s safari circuit.
The remainder of the day is reserved for relaxation and safari briefing, preparing for the journey into the southern Serengeti migration ecosystem.
After breakfast, depart Arusha and travel through Maasai landscapes toward Tarangire National Park, a park famous for its large elephant populations, seasonal river systems, and iconic baobab trees.
Tarangire offers excellent wildlife density including elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, wildebeest, and various antelope species. The Tarangire River acts as a permanent water source attracting wildlife throughout the year.
After the game drive experience, continue to Karatu for overnight stay in preparation for Serengeti migration entry.
Early in the morning, depart Karatu and drive through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area toward the southern plains of Serengeti National Park, the main calving season region.
This area becomes one of the most dramatic wildlife theaters in Africa during calving season, where thousands of wildebeest give birth within a short period. The abundance of newborn calves attracts intense predator presence including lions, cheetahs, hyenas, and jackals.
The landscape is open and flat, allowing excellent visibility of wildlife interactions and migration movement patterns.
This full day is dedicated to exploring the southern plains of Serengeti National Park during peak calving season conditions.
The plains are filled with thousands of wildebeest calves, creating one of the highest predator activity zones in Africa. Lions patrol the grasslands, cheetahs use speed hunting strategies across open terrain, and hyenas follow herd movements closely.
The experience offers continuous wildlife action including births, hunts, herd movements, and predator interactions, making it one of the most dynamic safari environments in the world.
After breakfast, begin the journey toward Central Serengeti, the core wildlife zone of the Serengeti ecosystem.
Central Serengeti is known for stable year-round wildlife populations including lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, and antelopes. The region provides consistent Big Five safari opportunities and excellent predator sightings.
The landscape changes into kopje-studded plains and river systems that support permanent wildlife activity.
After an early breakfast, enjoy a final morning game drive in Central Serengeti before beginning the return journey toward Arusha.
The drive passes through wildlife corridors and scenic highlands, offering final chances to observe elephants, lions, giraffes, and other wildlife species along the route.
This marks the conclusion of a specialized calving season and Big Five safari experience across northern Tanzania’s most important wildlife ecosystems.
