Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be welcomed by your mountain guide and transferred to your lodge in Arusha. The city sits beneath Mount Meru and serves as the main gateway for trekking and safari adventures in northern Tanzania.

The remainder of the day is reserved for relaxation, equipment check, and trekking briefing in preparation for the climb beginning the following morning.

After breakfast, drive to Momella Gate inside Arusha National Park where the trekking adventure officially begins. The lower slopes of Mount Meru are rich in wildlife and dense montane forest, creating one of the most scenic trekking starts in East Africa.

The trail passes through grasslands, giant fig trees, waterfalls, and forest zones inhabited by giraffes, buffaloes, monkeys, and numerous bird species. Armed park rangers accompany trekkers during this section due to wildlife activity inside the park.

The trek gradually ascends toward Miriakamba Hut surrounded by forested mountain scenery and volcanic landscapes.

After breakfast, continue trekking through montane forest and moorland landscapes toward Saddle Hut located beneath the summit ridge of Mount Meru.

The environment becomes more rugged and alpine as altitude increases, offering spectacular views across the Meru Crater, ash cone, and surrounding valleys. After reaching Saddle Hut and resting, prepare for the midnight summit attempt.

The summit climb begins during the night under starlit skies, following a dramatic crater ridge toward Socialist Peak at 4,566 meters. Sunrise from the summit reveals breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro, volcanic landscapes, and the plains of northern Tanzania.

After the summit experience, descend back to Saddle Hut and continue to Miriakamba Hut for overnight rest.

After breakfast, begin the final descent through forest trails toward Momella Gate while enjoying final views of the mountain ecosystem and wildlife habitats inside Arusha National Park.

The descent offers another opportunity to observe wildlife and forest scenery while reflecting on the completed trekking adventure. Upon arrival at the gate, transfer back to Arusha marking the end of the Mount Meru hiking experience.
